We started out our bible time with this verse pointinig out how beauty, brains and bucks are not who we really are. Who we really are is in Christ, who is the image of God. Jeremiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the Lord , Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: Then we saw in vs 24 how the Lord; Yaweh describes himself and what delights him. But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. The thrust of our fellowship was from 2 Corinthians. Speaking of things that are delightful, how about a sweet aroma; one that makes you stop! and notice what is that beautiful scent! 2 Corinthians 2:14-15 KJV Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the *savour (aroma) of his knowledge by us in every place. We are a sweet fragrance making manifest the sweet fragrance of His nature, will, and word in Christ. For we are unto God a *sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: Jumping down to 2 Corinthians 3:2 (we did a lot of reading) Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Its one thing to know the bible; its another to know the author. To be imitators of God as dear children. To so renew our minds and have the word so written in our heart, that our natural responce is reflecting the image and nature of God. A living epistle. 2 Corinthians 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:5 KJV Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Not about beauty,brains and bucks, but our sufficiency is of God. 2 Corinthians 4:3-5 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake. We can open the eyes of the spiritually blind. We can heal the spiritual cripple by showing him how to walk with God. We are workers together with God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV Therefore if any man be *in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and >hath *given to us the ministry of reconciliation;< To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and >hath *committed unto us the word of reconciliation.< We are in Christ place. Our hands are His hands, our mouth is His mouth, our feet are His feet. 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 KJV Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christs stead, be ye reconciled to God. [21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. This blessed us tonight.
