We started walking and we stopped at two really beautiful places that overlooked the beach. We walked a little more and then found where to get to the beach. We were walking around taking pictures and then we stopped at this place where there were these cool rocks and where you could see the sunrise. It was so gorgeous! We sat down on a big rock at the beach and Sean read from his devotional journal from when he was a missionary in Majuro. We read from the Bible and then we sang a few songs together. He played the music on his phone and we sang Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath and then I dont remember the other ones. When we were singing, I saw Aldo (Seans cousin) and Ileana (Aldos wife) coming. She told me the night before that they may come, but I figured that since she probably didnt get much sleep either, she decided to sleep in. So then the four of us were taking pictures of each other and talking and then Sean and I go back on the big rock where we had worship and the next thing I know he hugs me and tells me how happy he is that we are in Costa Rica together. He says that he is so happy that I am his best friend. I hugged him because I thought he was being a sweetheart. Then he said, Im not really good with words, but.... and proceeds to get down on one knee. He tells me that he wants me to be his partner and spend the rest of my life with him. He said some other things that I honestly cant remember because I was really in shock. I cried (of course) and smiled a lot. I seriously couldnt believe it was happening. I thought it could happen during this trip, but I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be the day before Aldo and Ileana’s wedding and for sure not that early in the morning. Truly, I was pretty convinced he would propose after we got back because he was so busy and with studying for finals and I just couldn’t imagine him having time to get a ring. But there you have it, somehow he figured it out and did it. The ring is perfect; it has a little of Sean’s flavor (two small blue stones next to the diamond) and the diamond is small like how I wanted it. The band is twisted which represents two of the three strands. When I have the wedding ring it will make the third strand… “…. a cord of three strands is not easily broken.” So that’s the proposal story, Sabbath morning sunrise walk on the beach :)
