We suffered our first devastating poultry massacre tonight. Something got into the chicken coop through a hole it busted in the greenhouse glazing panel that lets light into the coop. The hole was about the size of a fist, it killed about 20 some chickens and my two rouen ducks. Hubby saw what he figured was a cat hiding under a nearby trailer which he found by following tracks in the snow, but it was dark and all he could see was the reflection of the eyes. 7 hens made it through but are pretty traumatized, weve boarded the hole up so hopefully it cant get back in. I know its life and stuff like this happens on the farm but Im devastated. I guess I figured I would share here because I know some of you have been through this before.
