We talk a lot about QBs with the Vikings and the lack of skill Ponder has. Matt Cassell Was great with N.E. was a high trade to the Chiefs and bombed ( did horrible) if not mistaken released and Vikings picked him up. He has looked good with the Vikings and honestly should have started when the Vikes got him. Ponder looked better with the Vikes then Cassell did with the Chiefs in my opinion. With the mess the Vikes dealt with since Favre with horrible coaching and back and forth with the QBs and pressure put on Ponder to be the starter and useing Cassell last year with the back and forth garbage caused probably more trouble then any good. Ponder has gotten better and his progress is slow. Some of the greatest QBs sat on the bench for awhile Favre wasnt he a Falcon traded to Green Bay? Tom Brady sat behind Bledsoe. Elway was drafted by Baltimore Colts traded to Denver and wasnt the greatest first few years but became better. Wade Wilson wasnt a great QB and most games we won back then was because of Def if memory serves me right it almost seemed our Def outscored our Off in mid to late 90s. Rich Gannon started for Vikes was ok but didnt do well then to Redskins stunk, Chiefs stunk and went to Raiders and shined. A horrible QB in one system and team can shine in another. Lot of teams spent time and years on a QB lasting 10 years in the system and not seeing huge results at first. We want instant results when we see someone Start and succeed right away. Those are far and few between. We are over do for a Super Bowl appearance and for sure a win. We are running out of Patience with mediocre Coaches since Dennis Green but still nothing like Bud Grant. We finally got Coaches we can trust and plenty of talent on our team. Ponder has potential to be a Good QB not great Good. Teddy shows signs of Greatness. But then so did Ponder just no consistency and that is what we need consistent players all around. Unfortunately they cant focus all their time on one QB when 2 others are showing more promise at that moment.
