We tend to judge groups of people by the most vocal & most - TopicsExpress

We tend to judge groups of people by the most vocal & most attention-seeking part of those who claim to be a part of those groups - the fanatic fringe of an otherwise decent fabric of people. I don’t ever want to offer my page as a forum for the hate-mongering likes of the WBC because it gives them EXACTLY what they want - the opportunity to receive attention at someone else’s expense & (in my opinion) to offer up hatred & division as a sacrifice to serving evil & to separate us even more than we tend to separate ourselves. However, I truly believe that the joke is on them & that they don’t know what they’re in for if they think they’ll protest two amazing towns at the World Series who I am confident will have NO PROBLEM joining hands & standing as one against their protest. Yes, they stimulate the VERY FEW people who are just like them (most of whom are in their own family or community by the way - so they could really save some gas by just staying put). Their greatest accomplishment, though, is quite counter-productive to their agenda. Their complete & utter nonsense more often just brings together every other type of people you can imagine - united on one front if no other… keeping them from their task at hand. In 2010, some of my family members & I felt so strongly that they had no right to protest the funeral of a Leadwood soldier that we drove to Leadwood to stand in front of these monsters & protect the funeral procession from them & their hatred. Thankfully, I & my family did not witness their hatred because they “somehow” ended up with flat tires & couldn’t reach their destination. I wish we’d never been given this opportunity, but the experience is one we were privileged & humbled to be a part of. The casket was carried by an old-time fire truck; the car directly behind it carried a woman who had the most sincere look of appreciation on her face & held her hand to the window. That moment - that several seconds of what I’m sure was one of the longest days of her life (whether she was his mother, aunt, grandmother, or close friend), set deep in my heart that it is NOT ENOUGH to just rant about what is wrong - it is NECESSARY to act… to be a part of turning this hatred into a peaceful, loving, kind gesture of unity in what is decent & what is right. We don’t have to know anything about another person to see that they’re being treated unjustly & we don’t have to hand over a resume outlining OUR political or religious beliefs to qualify us to JUST SHOW UP.
