We tend to misunderstand the scope of the population in the Americas at the time the first white settlers arrived on the continent. They brought with them pathogens and disease too numerous to count and quite literally decimated the entire population...a population that most people do not understand was in the tens of millions....perhaps more. Intentional or not, it was genocide on a massive scale. These types of ruins are now all that is left of many native peoples. Even more left nothing behind.
