We thank everyone for their kind words and support during this difficult time. As you most know Michael, his friend Eric Petersen and our dog, Rowdy, were caught in an avalanche yesterday. Michael is the sole survivor. It took him over 3 hours to dig himself free to find his companions lost to this physical world. We are grateful for his living. His children are beyond words, joyful for his strength and resilience. He is mending though we are watchful with some physical complications. We are so thankful to the US Army Northern Warfare Training Center for responding so quickly and to the Alaska State Troopers for leading efforts to save these mens lives. Frontier Glass was having their Christmas party at the lodge and everyone chipped in to help this nightmare bearable. To our families and friends thank you ....simple gratitude. To Eric Petersons family and friends, we send our sincere hand of friendship and our deepest compassion during this time of loss. We will support you in any way we can. We are in a sorrowful time with the loss of our friend Eric and the sweetest dog we have ever known, our Rowdy. Our grief is too close to expand upon. Recovery attempts may commence tomorrow pending weather and conditions which are not favorable. This was the first real snow of the year in the Eastern Alaskan Range and conditions are unusual and at best, difficult to predict. The Alaska Avalanche Center, Valdez, will assist in recovery efforts. Please be mindful of where you go and what you do. Thank you for all the support. Annie & Mike Hopper
