We the Powerful! Workshops Offered next week on Big Island December 5, 2014 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FREE WORKSHOPS ON HAWAII ISLAND, DECEMBER 15 - 20, 2014: ENGAGING IN THE STATE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS Honolulu, Hawaii – Free workshops to help citizens learn to be effective as they participate in Hawaiis lawmaking process will be offered on Hawaii Island, December 15-20, 2014, by the Public Access Room (PAR). All are welcome, and no registration or prior experience is required. PAR is the non-partisan public resource office at the State Capitol. Workshop Schedule Monday December 15 6:30 p.m. Pahoa Community Center Tuesday December 16 6:00 p.m. Waimea Parker Library Conference Room Wednesday December 17 6:30 p.m. Ocean View Community Center (92-8924 Leilani Circle) Thursday December 18 6:30 p.m. Honokaa NHERC, Room #TBA (45-539 Plumeria St.) Friday December 19 6:00 p.m. UH Hilo Hooulu Terrace, UCB Room 127 Saturday December 20 12:00 noon Kailua-Kona Civic Center, Liquor Control Conference Room PAR’s workshops are between an hour to one-and-a-half hours in length, and are designed to be useful to both newcomers and veterans of the legislative process. Covered topics will include understanding the legislative process, delivering effective testimony, making sense of the calendar and deadlines, and an overview of the Legislature’s website. Renewed inspiration to be part of the solution will be the overriding theme. The PAR, a division of the State of Hawaii’s non-partisan Legislative Reference Bureau, is the public’s office at the State Capitol and has long been devoted to assisting Hawaiis citizens as they engage in State legislative government.
