We think cats are to blame for spreading TB to humans, because they might have caught it off rodents who were nosing around a badgers sett, presumably whilst it was busy infecting cows elsewhere. Its OK moggies, the truth will out eventually although it might take a few centuries. Just ask the rats; they were the chief suspects for the Black Death, only now we think we might have got that wrong. However, at the time lots of dogs and cats were killed because we thought they were responsible. The moral of the story is: humans get ill, animals get blame; humans get things wrong.
