We think it’s braver, stronger, and safer to hide our scars, but - TopicsExpress

We think it’s braver, stronger, and safer to hide our scars, but I’ve yet seen comfort in wounds. As long as humans live in a world overthrown by wickedness, we will forever see imprints of the scars of life. Luke chapter 12 says, “Nothing is covered up that will not be revealed or hidden that will not be known.” We aren’t called to wear our hurt on our sleeve, but neither are we expected to bottle it up inside. When you cover a wound and never address it, that wound will eventually come to the surface one way or another (and often in unpleasant or embarrassing ways). As Christians, we misunderstand the thorn in Paul’s flesh, thinking that he suffered so maybe we should have to as well. We fail to understand that there is a difference between pain and suffering. Pain can come as a result of growth, like an athlete pushing to the next level, whereas suffering can be a result of deliberate evil and lasts much longer. As Christians, we can hold fast to the fact that all pain and suffering is temporary and will pass away when Christ returns. Revelation 21:4 reads, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Perhaps today you may realize the pain you have tried to cover is actually suffering. We invite you to discard the temporal and allow God to bring healing to your wounds and scars.
