We thought we would give you a little sneak peek at some - TopicsExpress

We thought we would give you a little sneak peek at some interpretive play equipment that will be installed in the new playground area of W.O. Riley Park. If you recall, we completed a natural/interpretive play section in the playground this past summer. We knew that the natural play area would change continuously, and this winter, we brainstormed about ramping up our outdoor kitchen concept (previously, we had a sink and a countertop). Some individuals on our Public Works team have taken this to a whole new level! Thank you to Mike George, Travis Hoffman, & R.W. Bowman for thinking up and constructing this awesome play kitchen! Jason Roberts used his wood etching talents to customize the oven. The wood that was used was stored in the old maintenance building and was leftover from the old wooden playground. The cedar was taken from a tree that had been cut down and given to the Town. The project expense was less than $100. The long pieces will be a work station and benches for children, the oven door and drawers are faux. The kitchen will be the perfect height for small children, as the posts will be installed in the ground. Our folks are so talented and the children of Woodstock will enjoy this for years to come! This will be installed upon winters end.
