We took Daisy to her post op appt and to meet with the physical therapist for rehab. Shes doing remarkably well! Thankful for the good news 😊 While we were waiting, we took a double take, and sure enough, we really did see a pet possum in his carrier!! His name is Barley and, hes a celebrity!! His story starts off sad but has a happy ending. Hes been featured in the Tampa Bay Times and on ABC Action News. Barley has his own Facebook page and a brand new childrens book on the bookshelves! Hes been attending several book signings in the area over the last two weeks 😃 I never thought these two words would be spoken in the same sentence but, this POSSUM was CUTE!! 😊 Hes house trained and sleeps with her at night! He also has two cat siblings. Barley was so sweet and let me pet him and rub his ears.... Whod a thunk?! I dont want one and wont hesitate to call the exterminator if his cousins invade my attic again but Barley, you were a real sweetheart and Ill look at your family a little differently now.... a little 😉 All my teacher friends need to purchase his book to use in the classroom... Theres a glossary and much more educational info. for use with your students. Written by his mom, Lea Murray, and Gail Deiderich, a retired Reading Specialist, with whom I had a long conversation.
