We took Jeremiah to Albany Medical Center for his appointment - TopicsExpress

We took Jeremiah to Albany Medical Center for his appointment today. We were able to talk with his primary doctor, Joann Porter. Bone marrow testing shows that Jeremiahs marrow has more irregularities than seen before. The treatment he had in the past held back the Aplastic Anemia but did not heal him. He does need a bone marrow transplant. The sooner he receives the transplant the better . They are holding off on transfusions so he doesnt build up antibodies to the blood products. The longer we wait the more chance of him getting an infection which can set back the process. Jeremiah is about to start visits at Sloan Kettering next week. Dr Porter is setting up all the details for us. He will go for a first meeting and possibly blood work. The objective will be to start the process and readying him for a bone marrow transplant in January or February 2015 . They are doing further research on the donors (Hannah and Micah) to see if they are compatible Jeremiah will likely be in the hospital for 5-6 weeks. Then he will be at home for 12 months before he can be in contact with people or work . If they cannot donate, they will seek a donor through the national bone marrow registry. We appreciate your prayers. This is a bit overwhelming. We know God is in control and are thankful for His strength, peace and direction for our family at this time. Jeremiah is at peace and trusting God.
