We took a lovely drive thru the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on our way to Pigeon Forge for lunch/dinner. Every single time this year when we have drove thru the park, we have run into clouds and rain. At first I thought we would luck out, but as we came close to the top, we could see our pattern would indeed repeat. The first two photos were taken in the good weather, which by the way the temperature was 81 degrees, the third photo is when we hit the rain, and the last photo is what the temperature dropped to! Something awesome we saw, but had no opportunity to photograph, was as we approached the entrance to the park on the Cherokee side, suddenly a male elk with a large rack came running out of the woods, thru a field and was heading toward the road (us). Then we saw a second male elk that was bigger in size both body and rack,,,,he was chasing the first one away from his harem! Wow, what a cool moment in nature! (both elk stopped running before they got to the road, but we had to keep moving due to traffic)
