We trained so hard and in the end it really didnt matter. For those wounded in action we received a second chance. For those Killed In Action this life was over. My mind, almost fifty years later is stilled spring loaded to the Army position. I had so much fun in the Army, other then the periods of training. Infantry OCS was literally a real biotch but worth it. Having been an Enlisted Man for two years the Commission as an Officer was a pleasant change. The Vietnam experience for me was swift. I hardly passed Go. The burn experience was truly like medieval torture..The return to duty and flying was my choice...they took me back without any psychological screening. I was not going to deny myself anything ever again, thus a life of excess and bad choices but also a great life. My beautiful daughter Knows how close she came to never existing should I have been killed in action..In humility I say my life has been miraculous. Drive On.
