We travel up to Oak Creek Canyon and the Sedona area a couple - TopicsExpress

We travel up to Oak Creek Canyon and the Sedona area a couple times a year. We have stayed in several places in the canyon. We usually check the reviews but still want to experience the places we stay for ourselves. This time we selected the Slide Rock lodge which is privately owned not a part of the state park. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Andy. He was the consummate host...he allowed us to view some of the cabin styled rooms and select the one best suited to us. In the reviews we had read they stated the rooms were unkempt, mildew baths amongst other things. We found these reviews to be completely false. The rooms ranged from quaint to sizable. The decor is that of a rustic cabin feel with mostly handcrafted wood furnishings with fire places in each (perfect from a winter get away). It is an ideal get away from the heat place to go in the summer months with temps in the 80s. Our stay was very pleasurable and we look forward to another visit to this canyon retreat. As we checked out Andy showed us a suite style room complete with a living room w/flat screen tv, small kitchenette with full amenities, a very sizeable bedroom and bath. The furnishing resemble the Paul Bunyan styling wood framed. The price of the room is very reasonable and is perfect if your looking for a place to feel like home nestled away in a mountainous paradise. They provide a rough but very doable path down to the creek where you can observe nature at its best. Good fishing...swimming holes....hiking!! So if your not wanting the full camping experience but want the home in the mountains experience this is one of those must see places. I give it a strong Like.
