We try to do right by each other and the planet. We must. For our souls sake. But Ive been reading a LOT of history. To which Ive never paid attention. This is what Ive gathered: We are and have been PERPETUALLY greedy and stupid. Wars and other crimes against humanity are driven by human greed for territory (in the most general sense, but in particular see King Leopolds Ghost) and power. And power corrupts and thats usually expressed in unbelievable brutality. But in addition to being terminally greedy we can be incredibly stupid (See The March of Folly). So were hopeless. But cheer up! Theres love and art, love and art!
