We turned the furnace off today. Due to the high cost of propane and the low level in our tank, the furnace is no longer in use. We will be converting the house over to electric... then adding a wood-furnace if/when we can. As we have never completely gone without the heat from our gas furnace, were not sure how things will go. Our thought is this... why not try it while we still have LP!? Starting tonight, our heat source(s) will only be portable heating units, consisting of small digital base-board heaters and a couple of infrared cabinet heaters. In the next few days, we hope to add permanent elect. base-board heating and adding an electric water heater (replacing our LP) downstairs. The wood furnace may have to wait. The one we have researched has an optional stainless-steel water pipe attachment the heats water, much like an on-demand or tankless water heater.
