We voted for the EFF because we truly believed in its manifesto. - TopicsExpress

We voted for the EFF because we truly believed in its manifesto. We believed that the fight to have public servants using public services was not only noble, but revolutionary in every sense of the word. We voted for the EFF because we were prepared to defend a principle we believed to be just. Now EFF leaders are saying they will take benefits that come with being MPs because it would be a waste of the tax payers money to not do so. Wait a minute here. Was tax payers money not being wasted when they refused to eat food prepared at the swearing-in ceremony, opting instead to eat at a local sishanyama? Or was that just a stunt? Now the Commander-in-Chief says he will continue sending his son, Ratanang, to a private school, that his son would not attend dysfunctional and poor public schools. Wait a minute. When you were saying in your manifesto that public servants must take their kids to public schools, did you not know that those schools are dysfunctional? Are you realising only now? Now the Commander-in-Chief says he will also maintain his medical aid, to give him access to private healthcare. Wait a minute. I thought the agreement we had with you as your voters was that youd wage the struggle against private healthcare and be a soldier in that battle? Now the Commander-in-Chief is asking, and I quote: Why must I subject my child to poor education when people who are in power dont do it? Wait a minute. So we must wait for you to be a ruling party in government first before you actually lead by example? You cant do it now, as a political statement, as a symbol of resistance, like you did when you wore gumboots and overalls to the swearing-in ceremony? The ink has not even fully come off from our thumb nails. Indeed, I am learning as I grow that it is much easier to defend a principle than to live it. Let me go and cry alone in my small corner...
