We walked into town, three tasks to complete this morning, we are looking for a launderette, a copy shop and a supermarket. Wandering through the pleasant town we find a copy shop/ computer/ stationary shop. The owner printed off our documents with a bit if help from me in sorting out which format they were in. There was a supermarket close by but it was a long way to carry the shopping back so we thought we would find one once we had set off, where we could park close by. We didnt find a launderette, but there was a barbers shop open, I desperately needed a hair cut. Whilst we waited for my turn the owner served us coffee and we were able to use his wifi. The cut was soon done, my head felt alot lighter. We returned to the harbour and had lunch, then set off along the coast road, as we drove east the weather was deteriorating, we could see rain ahead on the mountains. The road snaked around very stark grey mountains, this area feels bleak and not very welcoming. We found a small cove to park for the night, there is definitely a storm brewing, the wind is getting stronger and there are occasional showers. The cove is very nice, there is a long beach in a tight curve with steep mountain sides at each end, the centre area is all olive trees leading up a gentle incline to the village which us about 5 kilometres away. There is one taverna which is closed up for the winter which has a small lake behind it and at one end of the cove there is a house tucked back from the sea. We parked in front of the small lake where we could hear a loud animal sound, it sounded like a very loud cricket, after some research we decided that it was a Cretan marsh toad. We went for a walk through the olive groves, for an hour or so. When we got back we could hear several of the toads all making a loud noise, it sounded as if they were competing with each other. We thought they would keep us awake all night!
