We want to bring some awareness to the very touching issue of Pinnacle the first Rastafari homeland, the birth place of Rastafari. Over the past couple months rastafari idren and sistren has been fighting a court ordered eviction from Pinnacle by January 31, 2014; the land (to my understanding) will be used for some proposed development by the group of developers aligned to the MP Lisa Hanna...couple days a go we circulated a online petition asking folks to participate and keep in moving in an effort to garner support to stop the eviction and to uphold Pinnacle as a heritage site in Jamaica; but as always RASTAFARI IS BEING MARGINALIZE by the very same people that who benefits from the culture, customs, and way of life of Rastafari. We realize that the corporate media is not doing enough to put a voice to this issue, and as such it is being ignore by those who has the authority to settle the dispute. Its important for people to know that RASTA has been the most influencial group, culture, and religion in Jamaica and the world for the past 80 years; no other culture have influence the world like RASTAFARI. Rastafari is responsible for Bob Marley, Reggae Music, and Tourism, all three mediums that has allowed Jamaica to hold its place as one of the most traveled place in the world. Here is a culture that came from a very obscure place in the world and has developed into culture/religious/way of life that has captivated people in the four corners of the world, and we the people who should be preserving this legacy are working effortlessly to distroy it. We should remember that when the Berlin Wall was falling is was RASTAFARI MUSIC THAT WAS BEING PLAYED, WHEN SOUTH AFRICA NEEDED A VOICE AGAINST APARTHIED IT WAS RASTA THAT STOOD UP IN ONE VOICE AGAINST APARTHIED, WHEN THE CUBAN TROOPS WERE FIGHTING ALONGSIDE THE ANGOLAN, RHODESIAN (NOW ZIMBABWE) LIBERATION FORCES IT WAS RASTA THEY LOOKED AT FOR THAT LIBERATIONAL VOICE, IN FACT THE WARRIORS IN ZIMBABWE AND ANGOLA CREDITED BOB MARLEY FOR THEIR LIBERATION, WHEN SOUTH-WEST AFRICA (NOW NAMIBIA) WAS FIGHTING THE APARTHIED SYSTEM IT WAS RASTAFARI MOTIVATION THAT STRENGHTEN THE WARRIORS...IN JAMAICA RASTAFARI HAS ALWAYS AND CONTINUE TO BE THE VOICE OF THE VOICELESS, SO NOW THAT RASTAFARI NEEDS A VOICE IN THEIR CONFLICT WE ARE ASKING THE PEOPLE TO DO THE HONORABLE THING AND STAND WITH RASTA...Pinnacle should be restored and preserved as a RASTAFARI SETTLEMENT/HERITAGE SITE...IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE PRINCIPLES OF EQUAL RIGHT AND JUSTICE THEN STAND WITH RASTAFARI!!!!!
