We want to clarify some of the rumors going around today. Yes, Vijay Kapoor of PFM did facilitate a meeting between the Pension Board and City officials on Monday after one of the employee groups asked him to lead a discussion where both sides could share specific concerns about the Pension Task Force and the ongoing discussions about key pension reforms. Overall, the meeting was productive, but the City clearly stated its intent to take this issue to the voters if the Task Force fails to find consensus on a set of reforms that will address the City’s concerns. If this referendum happens, the City told the Pension Board that all options are on the table, including board governance.
