We want to share information about a very important event involving our WV Member, Robbie Tolan. On Tuesday, August 26th (tomorrow) at 5 PM, a rally for justice will be held in front of the Federal Court House at 515 Rusk in downtown Houston. Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a ruling by the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sending Tolans civil rights lawsuit back to trial. A hearing is set for this week. We want to encourage everyone who can to be part of this peaceful and powerful gathering. Robbie, along with attorney Benjamin Crump, will be in attendance. On December 31, 2008 Tolan was shot by Bellaire police officer Jeffrey Cotton in the driveway of the Tolan Familys Bellaire home. Cotton was found not guilty of criminal charges. The Tolan family is seeking justice via a civil lawsuit.
