We want to wish everyone a happy Veterans Day. We have had the pleasure of being neighbors to a very sweet older man back when we lived in Ohio that served in WW2. He was a very sweet man who got around very well for his age up until the end. Mama spent a lot of time in his apartment just listening to him talk of those days and after the war where he helped the Marines build bases that have since been shut down. As most of you know, mama is a big history buff, so you can imagine how much she enjoyed just sitting and listening to him talk. I also loved the guy, because he loved cats! I always got upset at mama if I heard him out in the hallway and she didnt let me out to go say hi! I dont like being patted, but I loved it when he did it. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago and no one knows whether his sister re-released the stray he had taken in or kept her. (Some of you know of the wee stray that mama freaked out about the first time she saw her because she looked exactly like our Nim - thats the cat.) But on this day, we salute all of our veterans and give thanks to all those who came before us to secure our freedom and ensure we never lost it. And please dont forget those that are still serving our country. This is the day where we remind ourselves as well that, regardless of our political views, our soldiers are standing up for us all over the world and deserve our thanks and gratitude.
