We wanted to pass along a quick note about this past weekend. We know there was some frustration about how the coverage went in regards to the Team State Wrestling Duals. The biggest problem was the fact of how the mat layout was related to the broadcast position the crew was provided. They were placed on the floor in close proximity to one of the mats in the area where Bellmont wrestled, with NO SIGHT LINE to the Adams Central matches. In speaking to Rex today, he said that they had to beg to even get a table and chairs to setup the equipment, and to find a spot close to any power. Dave Nathan listened to some of the broadcast during his travels throughout the day, and heard how AJ had to actually leave the broadcast location and walk a distance to even know what was going on during the AC matches. Other than that, the only way they knew what was going on was through a website that provided information, which was delayed at times in updating. If we had the capability, absolutely we would have been able to cover both matches at the same time. We were just at the mercy of the site management as to where our broadcast location was located, and the Tournament Director as to where the teams wrestled. This was the first time that the event was held in its expanded format, along with its new location, plus it was the first time we have broadcast from this event. Should Adams Central and/or Bellmont be invited back to the event next year, we will carefully discuss whether or not we will carry the event, and if so, try to work with all parties involved to see how things can be improved as to how our broadcast would work out. We take great pride in being able to cover as many local events as we do. In fact, going off the last info that we have about this, we are the ONLY station that airs high school wrestling matches on a regular basis in Indiana!
