We wanted to share a note from a parent that really touched us. Everyone involved in this race works all year to provide positive experiences for kids. This note describes why we do it. Thank you again Pamela Newman. Pamela Polito Newman Sep 20th, 5:59pm This is our second year doing this event. My child and others are having good, clean, healthy fun while developing so many essential life skills right there in your grassy lanes. As they prepare themselves with butterflies in their tummies; they are learning to face their fears. As their legs tire and chests burn; they are learning their capacity to endure temporary hardship for long-term gratification. As they recognize their own potential; they learn to pace themselves for best results. As they push their chests out to cross that finish line; they learn that they are their own hero and cheerleader. The jubilant looks on their shining little faces is brighter than their medals, and the pride they have bigger than any trophy/ better than any time clocked. Further, the sense of camaraderie as many of these budding athletes root each other on, grab each others hands, or pick one another up after a fall is a beauty unto itself. I told my 9 year old this morning before the race that it isnt about first or last, but just getting in there...and afterward, as she explained staying behind with friends, she said, Mommy, it isnt really a race. Its a RUN. A f-u-n run. Everyone a winner here! Thanks so much for inspiring so many to dig deep and go for it!
