We went and met the elders in Lubimbi 2 on Monday, 20th of October 2014. The atmosphere there is very depressing to say the least. Issues that were shared showed that we need to do more to prepare the community for the inevitable move. Information with the community is disjointed and not actionable. There is need for a more organized approach to the relocation issue from the government line ministries. This approach has to be truly participatory and respectful of the residents needs and aspirations. However, we are glad to share that the community has already set up a committee to run with these challenges. Basilwizi and partners will have to work with this committee that the community has established to train them on non-violent lobby engagements, advocacy, etc. Depending on how the community wants to proceed, Basilwizi is ready to walk the challenge with our brothers and sisters in Lubimbi.
