We went to our regular weekly appt with Dr Hernandez. We got to hear his heart beat for a solid 15 mins. Its so surreal to get hear him from the inside. After that we got to take a tour of the NICU at Cooks. Our own private tour with our Neonatologist Dr Levy. I was great to see what kind of facility Cooks is and where my baby will be. We will have our own private room with his incubator in room. There is a fold out couch and everything so we never have to leave him! I wont get to hold him but I can hold his hand and squeeze his feet. He will have his own private nurses, respitory therapists and everything. As happy as I am that he will have a great team set up for him. It all just becomes so real when we go to these dr appts. This is really happening. He will be having major heart surgery, his chest will remain open for 3-5 days....He will be In the hospital for at least a month, then possibly have a surgically placed feeding tube that remains in even while we are home....I really dont know how we are going to get through this... how does one prepare for this?
