We were all left a little open-mouthed when Belle Dingle was sent to prison for 3 years for the manslaughter of her best friend Gemma earlier this year. Since the sentencing, the rest of the Dingle’s have been beside themselves with worry, desperately trying to get permission to appeal the lengthy punishment & fans would have seen them granted this last week. Now, Emmerdale executive producer, Kate Oates has confirmed in a recent interview that Belle WILL be coming back to the village, with a bit of a twist to come in the storyline too. One of the main issues with Belle’s sentence was how her father, Zak would cope, due to his history of depression & mental illness, so you will be surprised to find out that it is actually his wife, Lisa who is the one struggling in the lead up to Belle’s release. Kate explained: Belle will be coming back & when she does, it’s very interesting. The Dingle’s will be awaiting Belle’s return with bated breath & it’s a question of how easy it will be for Belle to adjust to life back in the village. Kate went on to say that Lisa is going to “be on tenterhooks” waiting for Belle to return to the village, as she wants everything to be perfect. Of course, The Dingle’s don’t have a lot of money, so when something big hits one of them, it hits them all. The stress is going to effect Lisa in a way which all the Dingle’s will be impacted.
