We were excited to host five professionals from Greeley and the Western Slope last Thursday and Friday who will be working with Older Individuals Who Are Blind (OIB). OIB grants are distributed to assist folks who are 55 or older and legally blind to remain independent. The Colorado Center for the Blind has such a grant as well. But Thursday and Friday we gave these five professionals an introduction to the alternative skills of blindness and our philosophy of self-determination. Naturally, there was training in Braille, technology, travel with the white cane and - as the pictures show - cooking. We really appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication that we shared with these eager learners!
