We were like inseparable twins, she was my best friend, we grew up together in the same nieghborhood, her mother and mine worked in d same office and lived in the same compound. We had a lot of things in comon, went to the same primary school, in the same class, the same school bag and even school foot wear..... We were so pure in heart, innocent kids who loved themselves deeply. Cindy can never eat unless i eat with her... I still remember how we used to bath together outside. Whenver i fell ill, she fells ill too, she cried when i cried and laughed when i laughed... I still remember vividly her pretty face, the way she smiled and how we used to walk hand in hand .... Many other kids around then used to jokingly call us di na nwunye which means husband and wife...... Then one day, she told me she was living soon... We were in primary six then preparing for our common entrance exam... Her mum has just been transfered and it was with immediate effect..... The news struck me like a stray bullet. I could not imagine a life at school and the niegbourhood without Cindy. I tried hard not to cry but the tears found thier way freely out of my eye balls, my heart was bitter... She held my hand and said please stop crying even though she didnt know when she started crying with me. We held each other so tight and cried together... Many years has passed now my Dear Cindy, Philian is a man now and i know you have grown into a very pretty and intellingent lady yet the thought of our childhood is still very fresh in my memory.... I have tried all i could to find you and at least behold your pretty face once again all to no avail.. My mum told me you are from Anambra but she does not know what part you are from...... You must be married now carrying another mans baby.. Do you remember how we used to play husband and wife when we were kids using our teddy bears as our children? Oh my! We could have made a perfect couple..... Wherever you are now Cindy, i know you remember me just like i remember you.... May God bless and protect you for me, my dear friend...
