We were talking last night in our small group about why it seems - TopicsExpress

We were talking last night in our small group about why it seems like everything is going wrong in our lives and joking (but not really joking) about how when one thing messes up, its like a chain of mess-ups after that. (Yes, there were many car fire references in this conversation...lol) Today, we begin our first week of the 7 Experiment and our fast is food. Our goal this week is to pick 7 foods and eat only those 7, nothing else. My prayer is for God to take me and use me to the fullest during these next few weeks. After talking with everyone last night, and really digging into our study, I realized that everyone is going through something, but regardless, youre still BLESSED. I pray that God shift my focus on Him and HIS plan rather than the burnt car in my driveway or the amount in my bank account. I pray that God will help me focus on blessings rather than shortcomings or problems/irritations. I pray that He bless each and every one of you in a way He hasnt before and give you that peace and reassurance He has given me. In this crazy life, its easy to forget how blessed we are. And in saying that, the author of this study, Jen Hatmaker, really hit the nail on the head last night when she talked about how blessed we are. We get upset for not getting approved for a $300,000 loan to purchase a large house that we dont exactly need when people in other countries need a $25 loan to purchase chickens to begin their small business to feed their families. Or we look in our fridge FULL of food and STILL eat out because theres nothing to eat. We complain at the 50 shirts in our closet because we have nothing to wear. When we dont struggle, we dont see blessings. It was heartbreaking to hear (and read this morning) the things that happen in other countries regarding food. And here we are stuffing our faces every chance we get with this crap food that is basically killing us and getting upset at McDonalds for forgetting our whipped cream on our Frappe. Im sorry to bombard all of you this morning with this, but this study is breaking me already and its only week 3. My heart is heavy and I cant wait to see what God has in store this week and the weeks to come.
