We were thrilled by news this week from Chicago’s arts education advocacy organization, Ingenuity, Inc.: Twelve of 100 total Creative Schools Fund grants just awarded will fund Hubbard Street Education Program partnerships with these Chicago schools: • Alexander Graham Bell Elementary • Augustus H. Burley Elementary • Charles Sumner Math and Science Community Academy • Edward A. Bouchet International School • Helge A. Haugan Elementary • Henry Clay Elementary • James Shields Elementary • Louis Pasteur Elementary • Maria Saucedo Elementary Scholastic Academy • Robert Nathaniel Dett Elementary • Sidney Sawyer Elementary • and West Park Elementary Academy This vital fund is a grantmaking partnership between Ingenuity and the Department of Arts Education of Chicago Public Schools, dedicated to supporting the expansion of arts education as called for in both the 2012 Chicago Cultural Plan and the CPS Arts Education Plan. All of us at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago are honored by this incredible, generous testament to the impact of our presence in schools, and to the national-model work we’ve done under the leadership of Kathryn Humphreys, Director of our Youth, Education and Community Programs.
