We were unable to get any of the horses away from the kill buyer. According to him, they were already spoken for by a friend in Alberta. I think they shipped this morning but if anyone lives near Armstrong and can drive by the auction, Id love to know if theyre still there. (If the truck is there please be sure to get the license plate.) You can bet that not a single one of those horses had an EID other than the one the kill buyer filled out on the spot, claiming that to the best of his knowledge the horses had never received any substances banned for human consumption. This in a nutshell is how the CFIA claims that horse slaughter is regulated. Thank you so much to everyone who offered homes and helped try to get them out! Brutal auction. I think this one took five years off my life.
