We will always be deeply appreciative of the unbreakable bond we share with Israel -- a close ally of the United States and an important trade and innovation partner to Massachusetts. As we celebrate Israeli Independence Day, we proudly remember the historic moment 66 years ago today when the Jewish people finally saw their dream, in the words of the Israeli National Anthem Hatikvah, to be a free people in our land, become a reality. In that same spirit, we pray for the day when Palestinians and Israelis can live side-by-side in peace as the result of a two-state solution. And we pray for the day when all people and all nations can live peacefully in harmony with one another.
