Join us for an informative look at all that the Recording Academy does locally and nationally, as well as some expert insight on the future of our industry! Hosted by Executive Director Mark Schulz Panelists are: Ivan Barias - President of the Phila. Academy With Calvin his partner have written and produced songs for Jazmine Sullivan, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Justin Timberlake, Mario, Chris Brown, Ledisi, Raheem DeVaughn, Keyshia Cole, Jaheim, Estelle, Floetry, Skillz, Ace Hood, Rick Ross and others. Ryan Schwabe is a musician, producer, sound engineer, programmer and upright bass player. He released his debut album Radio Recession in 2009 with his then music partner, Taki76 and is currently working on a music project called Subglo. As a music producer he has worked with Lady Miss Kier of Dee-Lite, Count Bass D, Doodlebug of The Digable Planets, Reef The Lost Cause, Hezekia and many other others.He is also a mix engineer and CFO of RareMP3s LLC and has worked with Ellie Goulding, Shlohmo, Jeremih, Wet, Chance The Rapper, Waveracer, Ryan Hemsworth, rjd2, Baauer, Danny Brown and other local and international acts. Ashley Scott found his love of music through his parents record collection as well as his though his aunt Helen Scott of The Three Degrees. Ashley got his start in the industry during his college years at Howard University where he majored in music. Ashley honed and learned the business side of music taking courses at Howard and working at the Robin Hood Dell East in Philadelphia where he remains the venue’s Promotions Coordinator. Through the Dell East, Ashley has done Promotions and Publicity for concerts featuring a who’s who of music including Patti Labelle, Teena Marie, The Isley Brothers, The Whispers, The O’Jays, and countless other R&B and hip-hop stars that have graced the Dell East stage. Kristal Tytewriter Oliver. Philadelphia native Kristal Tytewriter Oliver doesnt waste any time. In the past year, Kristal has recorded over 300 songs and placed with artists such as Mario, Diddy, Mya, and Enrique Iglesias just to name a few. The young writer also recently joined EMI Music Publishings impressive roster. Although her rise to the top of the music scene has been rapid lately, Kristals love of music has been with her since the age of four. Growing up in Philadelphias Germantown section, Kristal accompanied her choir-director mother to the Providence Baptist Church each week, singing along at rehearsals and developing a deep appreciation for harmony and composition. When Kristal became the music director for the Eve Show in 2003, she relocated to Los Angeles, but she was soon back in Philadelphia, eventually finding a home at Home Cookin Productions. Since then Kristal has been busy solidifying her career writing for the likes of Rodney Jerkins, Scott Storch, Carvin & Ivan, Star Gate, Jim Jonson, and Danity Kane.
