We will be celebrating our 10th year anniversary in 2015 and have created a trip for our fans and friends to South Africa, our other home. Our travel company is one of the best in South Africa (the company is known for its biking tours but rest assured we are NOT biking across Africa!). You are invited - and we hope you will consider going with us as we are only taking 15 people on this personally guided small tour. The details about the trip are below. Regina and Pat Grannies on Safaris presents: South Africa: Through the National Parks of the East Coast and the Garden Route to Cape Town Travel date: October 2015 Itinerary: Day 1 & 2: Arrival in Johannesburg. After being greeted by your tour guide you will change flights to Richards Bay on the North Coast of Zululand. Here you will be fetched and brought to our lodge in the beautiful Ubizane Wildlife Reserve where you will spend the next 2 nights. You will do 2 game drives per day with your private ranger in open vehicles searching for the Big Five and the wonderful bird life of the coastal forest. You then leave for one the most beautiful National Parks of South Africa, the Hluhluwe Nationlapark, famous for its black and white Rhino population. You will overnight in chalets of the beautifully situated Hilltop Camp with sweeping view over the park. You will visit the Phoenix settlement, founded by Ghandi, and the BAT craft & cultural Centre. Accommodation is in the luxurious Oyster Box Hotel in Umhlanga on the North Coast just outside Durban. (FB) Accommodation: oysterboxhotel Day 5 & 6: After breakfast you can still enjoy the hotel and beautiful beaches of Umhlanga before a short shuttle brings you to the nearby King Shaka Airport from where you will depart to Port Elizabeth, the gateway to the famous Garden Route. After a 1 hr. flight we drive on the coastal plateau through the beautiful Tsitsikamma Forest to our uniquely situated Lodge right in the indigenous forest where you are accommodated for the next 2 nights. You will be exploring the Tsitsikamma National Park with its spectalcular coast line and some of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa. (2 x FB) Accommodation: hog-hollow/ Day 7: After breakfast you continue to the famous coastal town Knysna situated on the shores of the beautiful Knysna lagoon. Fresh oysters are a specialty at the waterfront. Through the Lake District and over the Outeniqua Pass you reach the semi-desert Little Karoo, what a change of landscape! You will visit the world famous Cango Caves and also an ostrich farm before overnight in Oudsthoorn, the ostrich capital. (FB) Accommodation: adleyhouse.co.za/ Day 8: Today you cross the wide expanses of the Little Karoo, before stopping in the beautiful historic town of Swellendam for lunch and visiting the historic Drostdy museum. We reach Cape Town over a breath taking pass in the late afternoon. You are accommodated in the heart of the famous Waterfront with shops, bars and restaurants at your door step. Weather permitting; you will also take the cable car up to the landmark of Cape Town, Table Mountain, one of the wonders of the world. From here you have the most beautiful views over Cape Town and the Cape peninsula. Dinner will be served today in a Malay restaurant above the City, a culinary glimpse into the variety of Cape cuisine! In the evening you will board your flight back to the US.
