We will be sponsoring the Preston County Middle School Cross Country Championship at Preston High on Tuesday, October 21st. We will be running the championship course that starts and finishes on the community soccer fields. This course is approximately 3000 meters. A new event this year will be the Elementary School Pumpkin Run. This event is for Preston County Elementary School students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade. The “Pumpkin Run” will also take place on the community soccer fields. Students in grades PK and Kindergarten will run approximately 100 meters. Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade will run approximately ½ mile. Students in 4th and 5th grade will race on a one mile course. Below is the schedule of events: When: Tuesday, October 21, 2014 4:15 p.m. - PK and Kindergarten Boys and Girls (100 meters) 4:30 p.m. - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grade Boys and Girls (1/2 mile) 4:45 p.m. - 4th, and 5th Grade Boys and Girls (1 mile) 5:00 p.m. - Middle School Boys Championship Race 5:30 p.m. - High School Girls Championship Race Awards: In the Elementary Pumpkin Run, the top five male and female athletes in each division will get their choice of a pumpkin to take home and decorate for the fall holidays. Additional pumpkins may be awarded if there are a large number of pre-registered athletes. In the Middle School Championship Races, the top ten athletes will receive custom plaques in the shape of Preston County hand-crafted by former Bruceton coach, Ron Hamric.
