We will get brushed by a sneaky coastal storm towards the mid-late - TopicsExpress

We will get brushed by a sneaky coastal storm towards the mid-late workweek.. A low off the SE coast will skirt up to our area and bring some moderate rain and a bit of wind with it.. I dont expect this to be a blockbuster as the worst of it will stay to the south and east of us.. I think we will see 1-3 of rain with the heavier amounts in Suffolk.. The strongest wind gusts at the shore can come close to 30mph from the east.. Temps only around 65 which is below normal for this time of year and cooler than I initially expected due to cloud cover and that raw east wind will make it feel chilly outside.. Unlike the summer, when I say I expect rain, it will generally be overcast and/or a washout as we transition from salvageable days with t storms, to full blown low pressure systems.. Seas could be rough for a time with rip currents on the south facing shores.. We can also see minor coastal flooding in the most vulnerable areas but nothing major.. This will be a weak storm compared to some of the full blown noreasters we will get later in the fall and winter.. It is worth mentioning that if a storm took this track in the heart of winter, we would see ~4-6 of wet snow or 8-12 of a powdery snow (depending on how cold the temp would be).. Suffolk would have received more snow, followed by Nassau, then NYC.. Point is that this is a snow track as we would be on the colder side of the storm.. Dont mind my prepping for my winter storm forecasts lol.. Tomorrow will have a sunny start with increasing clouds throughout the day.. I dont think we will see a sunset as I expect overcast skies by then.. The rain will start after midnight coming down moderate to locally heavy (heavier the more east you go) at times overnight Wednesday into most of Thursday.. It should taper off sometime Thursday evening or night.. Wednesday will feature an earlier high of 70-73 before the clouds move in and drop temps into the mid to upper 60s.. The low should be around 60 before only rising to 65 on Thursday.. There is light at the end of the tunnel though.. As I said before, I expect above normal temps overall for Sept and to finish off strong.. The sun returns Friday, which will propel temps into the mid-maybe upper 70s if the sun comes out through the clouds earlier in the day.. Now for the Winner: 80 degree Indian Summer Weekend: I expect a decent amount of sunshine both days with temps around 80 and maybe a bit better! This is the weekend to go outside!! The sun and warmth should last into Monday though it will be a bit cooler and more like Friday with highs in the mid to upper 70s depending on amount of sun.. Lows will range from the upper 50s to the low 60s with the warmest days getting the warmest lows and vice versa.. Either way, the perfect sleeping weather will continue.. Our next shot of rain and cooler temps will be sometime during the early or middle of the workweek (Tue-Wed) but its a bit too far out for specifics so stay tuned as always..
