We will more than likely hit a nerve with some folks BUT thats ok..If you have to unfriend us that too is ok:) Just wanted to share... 1st Thessalonians 5:21-22 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. Now is the season for fun, games, witches, goblins, and candy. Some of you have heard me talk about this before, some have not. I would like to reveal some truth to you. Many go into this holiday on the 31st saying they are good Christians, there is nothing wrong with it, and they are not doing anything for Satan, they are doing it for fun, and they can separate themselves and not get drawn in. I’d like to give you some history. Halloween actually started on the British Isles with the Druids. The Druids were pagan and had many “holy days”. Probably the most important was “The Feast of Samhain”. What is Samhain? It is an observance of Samana also known as the Lord of Death. He was an evil Aryan god who is better known as the Grim Reaper. On this day, they believed the veil that separated the living from the dead was thin, or even non-existent. The belief was that spirits came and walked the earth, going to places they missed and even causing terror and harm to people. People would dress in costumes to scare off the spirits. They would also leave offerings outside the door to appease them in hopes the spirits would not become angry and destroy them. Here you see the relation to people today dressing up, and getting treats. But there is more.. These pagans had priests that would offer up sacrifices to appease the Lord of the Dead. They would take victims from homes and offer them up. When they took someone from a home, they would then leave a jack-o-lantern at the door in exchange for the victim which was supposed to protect the rest of the house from the Lord of Death. Let’s see who the Bible points to as the Lord of death….. Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Did you notice that? The one with power over death is the devil!! Quite evident of the link, the true Christian should be questioning right now, why they would ever want to take part in a celebration that was made to honor and appease Satan himself. But let’s look a bit deeper into things that happened. Druids felt that by lying on graves and listening or even speaking, they could gain knowledge of the otherworld, the region of the dead. Through the years, this brought tools that were used, not just for Halloween anymore, but all the time for this same purpose of speaking with the dead and spirits to gain knowledge. This included crystal balls, Ouija boards, tarot cards, and more. Witches, who are the offspring of these Druids, use this as their most holy day for communicating with the dead. God’s Word warns us of communicating with “familiar” spirits, using mediums, and so forth. The words really are quite alarming: Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. I want you to take special note of the word….. abomination. That is strong language, and the God whom you say you serve says you should have nothing to do with it. So a true Christian must ask themselves, who am I trying to be like? Am I trying to be Christ-like, or am I being like the rest of the world? One might say that these things are not practiced anymore, but you are wrong!! Witches symbolically sacrifice humans on Halloween….and Satanists still use real humans! There are countless articles of former Satanists who will account for this, yet the world will then cover its eyes when Satanists say the person is no better than a disgruntled employee making false claims. Regardless, given the evil nature of this “holiday” you are setting yourself at odds with God by taking part in it. Harvest festivals that still have kids dress up in their outfits and trick-or-treat are no better off. Why? All you did was bring the abomination to your church. You can dress it up any way you want to, but it doesn’t change it. Some people say they don’t do it to honor Satan, and can separate it in their minds, after all, it’s just fun. Here is an example for you self justifiers. Everyone is familiar with the salute done by the Nazi’s in WWII, it is the same as you see fascist groups like the KKK use. It was a function regarded, paying honor, and attributed to this horrible war machine. Now, what if Congress said that they thought that salute looked pretty cool, and our military would now do this salute, but wouldn’t mean it in the same way? Oh the outcry. Oh the pandemonium. People would be livid and not tolerate it because of where it originated from. So why do you as a Christian, think it would be any better to take part in something as evil as Halloween? You are making yourselves of the world. You have been tricked into honoring Satan whether you want to or not. You have a decision to make. Is it one that is easy? No. The world mocks those who follow Christ, the world hates those who follow Christ, the world hates those who take a stand for Christ, and the world despises those who do Christ’s will. The world loves a professing Christian who fits in, one who twists scripture to make them feel good and justify actions that go against God, and one who thinks the can handle wallowing in the world’s sinful ways. I ask you this. What Jesus do you follow? Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
