We will resume our series about automobile insurance carriers with a company that writes auto policies in Florida: United Automobile Insurance Company. United Auto sells nonstandard auto policies that usually have PIP and PD coverage and might have a small bodily injury liability coverage. A local news outlet did an investigative story on United Auto a few years ago and claimed that United Autos motto was Delay, dont pay and hope they go away. The reported motto seems pretty accurate given our experience with United Auto from the PIP/no-fault perspective. We have had to sue United Auto to seek payment of no-fault benefits for our clients on every case weve represented someone who is insured by United Auto. Every single case! Not only did they deny payment of no-fault benefits in every case regardless of the extent of the injuries or the hospital to which our client was transported, but they also looked for reasons to not cover the people from whom they accepted premiums. This is why United Auto is notorious in South Florida. While United Auto isnt unique in that respect, they are remarkably efficient in paying third party claims for bodily injury.
