We will swim or sink with Akpabio ALGON tells Umana media consultants Sequel to negative and unsubstantiated media reactions to an advertorial entitled “leave Gov Akpabio Alone” published in The Nation Newspapers and wholly sponsored by the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom State, warning the former Secretary to the State Government, Obong Umana Okon Umana to desist from funding negative media reports generated by his media consultants against Governor Godswill Akpabio, the local government chairmen have re-stated that they stand by the content of their advertorial. Speaking at separate media interviews, the duo of State Chairman of ALGON, Rt. Hon Nse Ntuen and Public Relations Officer, Hon Ephraim Akpan, considered the desperate efforts of Umana and his media agents, to discredit its advertorial as “laughable”, insisting that the position of the 31 local government was “irreversible and substantive”. Continuing, he said, “we have carefully read through the various spurious publications, by Obong Umana Umana media propagandists and note it to be laughable, mischievous, spurious and outright fallacious, it is sad that the propagandist left the thrust of the matter to articulate imaginary and non-existing issues. “We appreciate the fact that Umana Umana is desperate to become the governor by all means, but we insist he remains cautious so as not to undermine the peace and harmonious coexisting of all sections of the state and stop hiring people to insult the governor who has been a benefactor to him in the last six years.” “For avoidance of doubt, the 31 local government chairmen voluntarily signed the advertorial warning Umana to leave Gov. Akpabio alone without any prompting by the governor as insinuated by Umana’s agents”. The ALGON Chairman who is Council Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area assured that the chairmen will not be distracted or will allow themselves to be dragged into a needless media war propagated by Umana’s media men. “I challenge Umana Umana, his media spin doctors or any Media House to name one council chairman who has denied that he did not sign the advertorial voluntarily or has regretted signing it” Ntuen added. The ALGON chieftain insisted that the 31 local government chairmen have vowed to remain loyal to Gov Akpabio who also doubles as the leader of PDP in the state and stated that “as far as we are concerned in ALGON. We are ready to swim or sink with Gov Akpabio”. On his part, ALGON PRO, Hon Ephraim Akpan unequivocally condemned all media reports which suggested the chairmen did not sign the advertorial voluntarily and warned those perpetuating false and negative media reports against the governor to discontinue with the impious practice. He warned that the 31 local government chairmen would not fold their hands and watch the image of the governor soiled by enemies of progress.
