We wish ourselves a Happy Veterans Day or in England Remembrance - TopicsExpress

We wish ourselves a Happy Veterans Day or in England Remembrance Day, but let us - the children of many a WWII vet - not forget one thing my father always told us: war is failure carried out rarely by the children of those who failed. WWII and WWI may have been the exceptions, but that is of little consequence or value. What was as true for Thucydides and von Clausewitz is true for writers like Nathaniel Fick today: the failures of craven politicians transcribe themselves onto the epitaphs of men who die before they had stopped being boys. I believe Wilfred Owen changed English verse with the following. I think I did it better than most, but I will leave you with Ben Whishaw from the under appreciated BBC series The Hour: youtube/watch?v=M5zT01lm3lw
