We won’t end global warming by shouting at it. Bankers and their politicians don’t care. They can ignore us because most of us depend on them. Billions of humans want more heat, more meat, more children, more products, and faster cars that all cause global warming. STEP A: is to get off these treadmills and lead by example. We move to smaller homes, superinsulate them, have one or fewer children, eat less meat or none, quit buying shit, rely on transit and bikes instead of cars, turn off TV, quit fighting the empire’s wars. STEP B: is to create new systems that feature ecology and social justice: regional and urban farms, bioregional cash and state banks, health co-ops, solar co-ops, ecovillages, rail and bike infrastructure, green media, green schools and green jobs. STEP C: When we do the above, we’ll be politically able to cancel resource export pipelines and contracts, municipalize utilities to own them, decentralize the grid and convert to renewables.
