We worked on our yard relentlessly for the 4 days over July 4th, - TopicsExpress

We worked on our yard relentlessly for the 4 days over July 4th, and it was miserable for me in only one respect: I am a mosquito magnet to the max. Ive tried every spray and lotion (some homemade) in existence and although many used to work, in the past year, despite thorough spraying of a good repellent, found that I was still a mosquito meal. I bought Deep Woods Off which has a much higher concentration of DEET than Ive used in the past, and reportedly one of the best products to use. Despite regular & thorough spraying of skin and clothes, the mosquitoes continued to land and bite. Steve was much luckier and they ignored him. Long story short: I coated myself with this product multiple times every day and didnt shower off immediately when I was done in the yard. I started getting ill on Monday night and it continued through yesterday. Lethargic, dry mouth, continual nausea, somewhat disoriented, dizzy, physical imbalance, headache, yep, DEET poisoning. The days outside in the yard were beautifully breezy, which also contributed to swallowing or inhaling a good bit of the spray. I called 2 poison-control centers, described the symptoms and they confirmed it. DEET is safe (really?) to use, but the minute you no longer need the protection, showering is critical. In the old days, I used to use Skin So Soft by Avon, but couldnt stand the smell. The last time I did use it, the mosquitoes welcomed me!
