We would appreciate continued prayers for our son,Brad. Hes had four migraines in the past two weeks… because his migraine condition is so extremely rare and because any migraine for him could lead to stroke, coma, non-stop seizures, or death the goal is to avoid any and all migraines. He has Sporadic Hemiplegic Migraines(SHM). He takes medication to keep from having migraines so when he does experience them it can be disconcerting to all of us. His auras look like TIAs(mini-strokes)…weakness or paralysis in one side(usually arms and hands, sometimes legs as well), slurred speech, eyesight affected…always a bit frightening but we have to wait it out and watch for the headaches to begin. He cannot take the more common triptans which are usually given for migraines or any vaso-constricting meds…so if the migraine remains mild we just treat with a strong dose of tylenol and he goes to bed…and we keep checking in on him. I am in the process of seeing if the neurologist will prescribe something stronger when the migraines come on. I am putting this here just to make everyone aware of what this looks like.
