We would just like to wish everyone who is doing the Waterside - TopicsExpress

We would just like to wish everyone who is doing the Waterside half marathon tomorrow the best of luck! We are very grateful to all those who have chosen to run and help little Kari support NEUROBLASTOMA CHILDRENS CANCER ALLIANCE (NCCA). We have had quite a few runners who had to pull out for various reasons but we know that all those who are running will make a major difference to these children & their families. We will be out in force cheering everyone on! If anyone would like to sponsor our runners you can do so via Little Karis big fight justgiving page or text KARI£3 £4 £5 OR £10 to 70070. The NCCA do a tireless job of funding new research, bringing clinical trials here from abroad, supporting these children and their families who are going through what has to be 1 of the most horendous things that a family can be put through. Cancer research only donates 2% of their funding to childhood cancer. Neuroblastoma only has a 67% survival rate and is most common in children under the age of 5. Every day 7 children are diagnosed. The lucky 1s who do survive have to go through absolute hell to get there, and for many of them their wee bodies / lives are changed forever. The treatment alone to try and get rid of this monster is unbearable. A lot of these children sadly pass away as a result of complications from the treatment alone The number of children who will suffer long term side affects is growing by over 500 every year. Our children are our most precious thing in the world. Imagine being told there was no options for your child and having to stand by helplessly while they suffer .Its just unimaginable but sadly this is the reality for all too many families. In the last 20 yrs 1 new drug has been approved for childhood cancer .NCCA are providing funds to bridge the gap from lab to clinic so that these children have more options. They are also campaigning for more NHS funding. The aim is less deaths and one day a cure. Sept is childhood cancer awareness month and we are just delighted that during this time we will be able to donate whatever we will have gathered in as a result of the dedication, kindness, determination and support of all our runners. Without you there would be no donation and as you can see these children desperately need our help. So a massive THANK YOU and good luck for tomorrow from all of us! GO TEAM KARI!!!
