We would like to introduce our new Myotherapist – Juanita Quirk In 2004 Juanita began treating clients using her home as a base and continued to do so for some years. She attained her diploma of remedial massage in 2005 and had the opportunity to work alongside other health professionals in clinics and at gyms. She has been fortunate to attend a range of events and provide relevant treatment as required, e.g. The BRW triathlon, the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker. After taking a break for two years during which time she worked in the mental health sector, she returned to her practice in 2012. At the same time she went back to study and became qualified as a Myotherapist. She has a passion for what she does and believes in tailored treatments for the individual including the following mentioned techniques. What is Myotherapy? Myotherapy is a form of manual therapy which focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal problems. This includes a thorough postural assessment to establish cause/s of injury/pathology; treatment methods which include manual therapy as well as other techniques such as Trigger Point therapy, Myofascial Release, Glass Cupping, Dry Needling and Electromagnetic Therapy; rehabilitation provided in the form of exercises or stretches, prescribed to enhance recovery. Re-assessment and monitoring of conditions/s to prevent re-injury and maintain integrity of the musculoskeletal system is a regular component of treatment.
