We would like to introduce two new external, community board - TopicsExpress

We would like to introduce two new external, community board members: Les Richardson, CEO of Richardson Farms and long time resident of the community; and Chris Montcalmo, Branch Relations Manager of Susquehanna Bank and resident of the community. Both have been working with the Board over the last three months. In 2013, White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company changed their Constitution and By-Laws relating to the Board of Directors. Previously, everyone on the Board were members of the Company. This change added to the Board three (3) members of the community selected cooperatively by the President and the Chair Person of the Board. These external Board members must be a resident of or business owner in the Company’s service area, and may not hold membership in the organization. Terms of office for community board members are for a period of one (1) year, which begin on January 1st and end December 31st. According to Wikipedia, Outside directors bring outside experience and perspective to the board. They keep a watchful eye on the inside directors and on the way the organization is run. Outside directors are often useful in handling disputes between inside directors, or between shareholders and the board. They are thought to be advantageous because they can be objective and present little risk of conflict of interest. We thank both Mr. Richardson and Mr. Montcalmo for taking an interest in our organization, and look forward to their valuable contribution to our success. We are currently working on filling the third position.
