We would love your prayers tonight for an uneventful night for Miss Lily. A code blue was called for Lily tonight at 8:30 PM. As we were standing next to her bed, discussing how she just didnt look right, Lily stopped breathing and was completely unresponsive. The code was immediately called, crash cart wheeled in, and the room filled with doctors in seconds. They began bagging her, and were able to find a pulse and get her stabilized after 20 minutes or so. Emily and I stood outside the door, watching and praying, hearts racing and shaking as we tried to watch what was happening amid the flurry of activity going on in her room. She became responsive, and began fighting the doctors who were bagging her (a good sign) and crying for Mommy, who was able to go in to comfort her as the team continued to work. We are praising God that they were able to immediately find a pulse, and that Lily has an incredibly wise, quick-acting team of doctors caring for her. Emily has always said that when things with Lily start going downhill, they go downhill FAST, which proved true yet again today. Today was a relatively good day for Lily, playing and acting fairly normal up until around 4:00 PM when she started having some neurological episodes as she has been experiencing for the last several days. She then vomited many times (and has vomited several times post-code), starting around 5:30, and her heart rate continued to climb over the next couple hours...up into the 180s. The thought is that Lily has been experiencing deep seizures on and off for the last 6 hours, (as well as sporadically over the last several days/weeks) but the problem is they are not easily recognized because they do not present as the typical textbook case. This last seizure is what caused her to stop breathing and necessitated the code. She is back on bipap to assist with breathing, several medications have been upped and new ones started, and is having an EEG done this evening to try to learn more about the seizure activity. We are sitting here on the couch now...in the relative calm after the storm...trying to think of our praises. Tonight we are thanking God for the gift of life, that Lily was protected through this episode and was able to be stabilized as soon as possible. We are thanking God for Lilys incredible medical team that responded immediately and with extreme care. We are thanking God for YOU all, and your steadfast prayers and encouragement. And we are thanking God for His faithfulness in Lilys life, the way He has sustained and carried her and the Rancourt family this far...and will continue to throughout trials and joys to come. Eucharisteo. Please be praying specifically for rest for Lily tonight, for answers to medical unknowns (specifically neurological answers), and for Lilys spirit. She is so brave and approaches all of this with such incredible strength and courage. To see her feeling this yucky and going through so much is absolutely heartbreaking. Praying for a quiet room tonight...this was all the excitement we ever needed for the night!
